Seminar on Horse Breeding Digitalization and Cooperation with Border Service

On September 17, 2025, a meeting was held at the Kazakh Research Institute of Livestock and Foraging (KRILF) as part of the seminar “Development of New Technologies for the Digitalization and Automation of Pedigree Recording and Horse Evaluation.” The event brought together representatives of the Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Academy of the Border Service, a member of the judging panel of the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI), as well as scientists and specialists in horse breeding. The meeting was chaired by A.M. Zaitsev, Director of the V.V. Kalashnikov All-Russian Research Institute of Horse Breeding.

During the seminar, participants discussed establishing professional cooperation between research institutions and security agencies, organizing joint conferences, and exchanging experience in the use of service horses by the Border Services of Kazakhstan and Russia. Particular attention was given to training and testing service horses in varied terrain — including crossing water obstacles, climbing and descending mountainous areas, and improving endurance and obedience.

The participants emphasized the need to develop unified Rules for endurance and performance trials among service horses, which would enhance the quality of horse training and strengthen interagency cooperation between the two countries. They also highlighted the importance of forming specialized groups of Kazakh horses adapted to regional climatic and environmental conditions to support border posts with reliable service animals.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed their commitment to further joint initiatives in breeding, training, and scientific exchange aimed at improving the use of service horses in border operations and enhancing the overall effectiveness of their training programs.
