Memorandum on Cooperation in Horse Breeding Signed

On September 16, 2025, in Aktobe, a field seminar-meeting titled “Development of New Technologies for the Digitalization and Automation of Pedigree Recording and Horse Evaluation” was held at LLP “Mugalzhar zhylkysy.” The event was jointly organized by the Kazakh Research Institute of Livestock and Foraging (KRILF) and the V.V. Kalashnikov All-Russian Research Institute of Horse Breeding.
During the meeting, participants discussed the automation of pedigree registration in horse breeding, the assessment of breeding value for horses of productive and universal types, and the improvement of existing guidelines and record-keeping forms. The importance of introducing digital solutions to enhance data accuracy and breeding efficiency was emphasized.
Prior to the seminar, a pilot test of the pedigree recording system under development was conducted at LLP “Mugalzhar zhylkysy” and the “Satzhol” Farm in Aktobe region, where elite Mugalzhar horses are bred. These farms maintain reliable primary zootechnical records and ensure scientific support for breeding programs. Representatives of the Republican Chamber of Productive and Universal Horse Breeds proposed assisting in drafting regulations for exhibitions and auctions of breeding horses.
Following the session, heads of LLP “Mugalzhar zhylkysy” (B.Sh. Alin), LLP “KRILF” (A.A. Torekhanov), and the V.V. Kalashnikov All-Russian Research Institute of Horse Breeding (A.M. Zaitsev) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The document focuses on developing joint scientific and genetic research aimed at improving productive and universal horse breeds.
Within the framework of the Memorandum, the parties plan to conduct joint studies on the phenotypic and genetic traits of horses, exchange experience, methods, and technologies in genetics and breeding, and organize seminars, round tables, and workshops. The participants also discussed the possibility of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Kushum breed next year at “Mugalzhar zhylkysy” and organizing a breeding horse exhibition and auction dedicated to World Horse Day with participation from international experts.
The discussion involved Honorary Chairman of the Republican Chamber of Productive and Universal Horse Breeds, laureate of the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR, author of the Kushum and Mugalzhar breeds, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences S.S. Rzabayev, as well as researchers of the KRILF Horse Breeding Department — Zh.E. Kozhanov, S.M. Omarov, U.A. Akhmetov, head of “Satzhol” Farm L. Nurgaliyeva, and Director of the Chamber K.S. Rzabayev.
