Development of the Feed Base as the Foundation for Livestock Growth
Jan 21, 2026
The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan has approved the Comprehensive Livestock Development Plan for 2026–2030 aimed at ensuring sustainable growth of the sector and increasing its competitiveness. The Kazakh Research Institute of Livestock and Fodder Production considers this document strategically important as a systemic foundation for the further development of domestic livestock production.
One of the key directions of the Comprehensive Plan is the expansion of the feed base and the introduction of scientifically grounded methods for the rational use of pasture lands. The implementation of these measures creates conditions for preserving and increasing livestock numbers, as well as for ensuring stable growth in animal productivity. The establishment of a strong feed base is regarded as a fundamental factor in improving livestock efficiency and reducing dependence on external resources.
The document also provides measures aimed at strengthening the role of the state in the development of pedigree livestock breeding. Particular attention is paid to the introduction of modern methods for evaluating farm animals, automation of pedigree status assignment processes, and the development of specialized breeding farms. An important condition for achieving these objectives is compliance with scientifically substantiated breeding and selection plans supported by scientific supervision.
The integrated approach incorporated into the Livestock Development Plan for 2026–2030 combines state support measures with practical implementation mechanisms. This creates a solid foundation for the development of domestic pedigree livestock breeding and fodder production, while also providing favorable conditions for attracting investments and introducing innovative technologies into the agricultural sector.
