KRILF Hosts Meeting with UNDP Biodiversity Advisor to Discuss Kazakhstan’s Conservation Strategy

On May 16, 2025, the Kazakh Research Institute of Livestock and Forage Production (KRILF) hosted a significant meeting with Joshua Braun, Chief Biodiversity Advisor of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The event was held as part of the development of Kazakhstan’s 2025–2035 National Concept for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biodiversity. Participants discussed the scientific basis of the concept’s sections and the alignment with the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

The meeting brought together representatives of Kazakhstan’s leading scientific institutions, including the Institute of Botany and Phytointroduction, the Kazakh Forest Planning Enterprise, the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University, the Fisheries Research and Production Center, and the Institute of Zoology. Additionally, within the framework of the Integrated Management of Marine and Coastal Resources project in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea, issues related to the conservation of Caspian seals and fish stocks were addressed.

This meeting marked an important step toward strengthening Kazakhstan’s biodiversity strategy and enhancing scientific and practical cooperation in the field of environmental conservation.
