Scientists from the Department of Forage Production and Pastures of the Kazakh Research Institute of Livestock and Foraging (KRILF), in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), are implementing the GCP/KZK/005/GFF project aimed at enhancing climate resilience and restoring pasture ecosystems in Kazakhstan.
As part of the project, two training seminars were held in the Taldysai rural district of the Mughalzhar district and the Araltogai rural district of the Aiteke Bi district. The seminars were designed for farmers and agricultural specialists to gain practical knowledge in sustainable pasture management and improving the productivity of forage lands.
Participants received hands-on training in soil preparation, effective use of agricultural machinery, seed handling, and modern sowing methods for forage crops. Special attention was given to soil fertility preservation, the implementation of water- and resource-saving agricultural technologies, and practices adapted to Kazakhstan’s climatic conditions.
These activities contribute to the adoption of sustainable farming practices, strengthen farmers’ environmental awareness, and represent an important step toward ecologically safe and efficient agricultural development in Kazakhstan.
The joint initiative between KRILF and FAO serves as an example of successful cooperation between science and international organizations aimed at strengthening food security, developing rural areas, and supporting climate adaptation in the agricultural sector.
